The No.21 CENTURY 21/Dallara/Honda/Firestone car will debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 12, when the track opens for practice. The 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place on May 26, and be broadcast on ABC television.
The No. 21 car will be driven by racing star Josef Newgarden. In 2011 Newgarden returned to North America to race in the Firestone Indy Lights series for Sam Schimidt Motorsports.
He won his first Indy Lights race in the season opener on the Streets of St.Petersburg. Josef followed up his opening win in St.Petersburg with 4 additional wins, and 10 podiums total out of 13 races in 2011, clinching him the points championship with 1 race left to go.
In New Hampshire, the 11th race of 2011, Josef lapped the entire field, and went on to win; he is the first Indy Lights driver to do this since Thiago Medeiros in March 2004.
On December 7, 2011, Newgarden was announced as the driver for Sarah Fisher Hartmann Racing. He is running his first full season schedule in an Indycar in 2012.
Coming off a stellar rookie year, Newgarden will look to deliver an even better performance in 2013.
Fisher became the first woman to win a pole position for a major open-wheel race when she qualified fastest for the 2002 Belterra Casino Indy 300 at the Kentucky Speedway. Her lightning-quick lap of 221.390 mph remains the fastest lap on record at that track. Sarah was voted the most popular driver in IndyCar racing for three consecutive years.
After compiling the most Indianapolis 500 starts of any woman in history, Fisher struck out as a team owner in the IZOD IndyCar Series when she formed Sarah Fisher Racing in 2008. The team scored its first victory in October 2011 with driver Ed Carpenter, and Sarah became the first female owner to win a race in the IZOD IndyCar Series.
In 2013 Fisher's race team, Sarah Fisher Hartmann Racing, is competing in the IZOD IndyCar Series with driver Josef Newgarden.
