I have been a Realtor for the past 13 years. I pride myself on finding out what my clients needs are, giving them the best service possible and will work tirelessly on their behalf. I have sold houses for more than $500,000 and as little as $30,000. Selling condos is about 33 percent of my business, something that very few Realtors like to sell because it is difficult. You have to understand covenants, by-laws, common property, what property management companies do and association budgets. As being past president of the local chapter of Community Association Institute, I do. I have sold 17 condos in my own community and in several other communities.
I have lived in the Indianapolis area since 1967 with a slight detour to Bloomington Indiana for 3 years for work purposes. I currently live on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Before I was a Realtor, I worked for HPS Inc. (Hoosier Photo Supplies) for 32 years. I started out selling photographic equipment for the first 12 years at their Broad Ripple store. I worked my way up to being in charge of operations for all 15 of their retail stores. I then made a lateral move in the company to become a computer programmer for the last 20 years. Our Data Processing staff of 7 people wrote all the business programs for the $500,000,000 in sales company. The two jobs I had at HPS prepared me for well for being a Realtor. Fine photography and using technology in real estate are essential for being a Realtor.
Going the extra mile...
I had out of state clients who were looking for a house in the metropolitan area. They had found one that they had liked but had not made any decisions. They asked me if I would go and take pictures of the house and send them. I shot a video of the inside and outside of the house and sent it to them. Because of the video, it saved them another trip to Indianapolis from Connecticut and they bought the house.
Over a 6 month period, I sold a short sale home never meeting the owner. I talked to her about 3 times on the phone. Her preference for communications was text messages. There were dozens and dozens and dozens.I am a very patience person.
I met a person over the internet who wanted to know what his house was worth. I met him at a local restaurant and discussed the matter. We hit it off well and became friends. The owner lived in Pike Township but worked in Bloomington. Shortly after the meeting he moved to Bloomington and rented the house in Pike Township, Shortly after that he quit the job in Bloomington and got a job in Indianapolis. He now lives in Bloomington and commutes to Indy. At that point he decided he wanted to do some house investing in Bloomington. He wanted to use me as his Realtor. Although Bloomington is not in the MIBOR MLS system, information would be difficult to get and Bloomington was an hour away, I said yes. Since then I have sold this Bloomington buyer 3 houses and made lots of contacts for real estate information in the area.
