Born and raised in a small town sixty miles outside of downtown Chicago, Steven Powers has thoroughly enjoyed making the transition from rural to urban living in the West Loop after having gained significant experience in finish carpentry and residential construction as well as having served in the Illinois Army National Guard for 8 years. Since purchasing his first home at the age of 20, Steven realized the importance of investing in real estate and decided to pursue his passion for sales after returning from an active duty deployment to Afghanistan in 2009.
Steven's extensive experience in building custom homes helps him to identify and target properties that make sound investments. His talent to visualize cosmetic changes, room rearrangements, and design upgrades allows him to help his clients see what their home can become.
Having joined the Army in September of 2002, Steven dedicated himself to his fellow comrades and his country. Steven's leadership and discipline were recognized while serving in Afghanistan where he received a field-grade promotion to sergeant. His commitment to the military has carried over to his client's needs. He encourages an open line of communication so that the client's experience is rewarding, informative, and pleasant.

Wisdom, dedication, and honesty are three words that would best describe a few of my traits. I am a native Chicagoan with roots all across the city and suburbs. As a child I lived in Humboldt Park until the age of 11 and moved to the Lakeview area, (onlyif my parents would have purchased those three commercial buildings!), Portage Park, Jefferson Park, and now the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood.
In addition to living in various parts of the north and northwest side, family members were very well dispersed in the Chicagoland area, and has been an asset in being familiar with areas as far north as Waukegan, as far south as Richton Park, as far west as the growing town of Oswego and everything in between.
Growing up in Chicago meant that I attended public schools, first at Moose Elementary, then Hamilton Elementary, and Von Steuben Metropolitan Science Center for High School.
As a college student I attended Columbia College for my freshman year and finished off at Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Immediately upon graduation I reenrolled at Northeastern where I later earned myMaster's degree as a Reading Specialist. Currently, I am in the process of obtaining my doctoral degree in administration and supervision.
The study of homes and the marketplace is also something that I am intrigued with. I have always admired the hidden diamonds that I had driven by since I was a child and having the opportunity to show them and make someone's dream come true today is marvelous.
I first became an agent five years ago in 2002 working with Coldwell Banker, then First Chicago Real Estate, and now Century 21 SGR, where every client is special. My reputation as a sincerely hardworking agent has brought me a steady stream of client s, where they become a part of my family and friends.
