W. Roger Murphey brings to Century 21 Osborne Realty a diverse background and a broad career experience. Having received a BS in Agricultural Business Management and completed coursework for a MBA degree, Roger spent 15
years in integrated roles as a produce grower, marketing consultant and sales
agent representative for various shipping firms in California and Arizona. The
early 1990s led to a position as a merchandiser for Sysco Food Service Corporation in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This relocation led to an association with a series of commercial real estate firms in the west valley of the greater Maricopa County area.
Beginning in 1994, Roger specialized in sales of Agricultural land and commercial property to land developers and builders during the ensuing high growth years for Maricopa County. Through a series of opportunities, Roger
specialized in commercial real estate sales and land development with TRES
Realty of Goodyear, Mul-Smith Prudential Properties of Glendale, and Core
Realty Partners of Scottsdale during the high growth years of the late 90s and
This diverse business and real estate development experience led to a personal business enterprise of site selection, financing arrangements, and construction management of several car wash and car servicing facilities in the Phoenix area. Having built these businesses to profitable levels, Roger sold these commercial facilities to investors around the 2006 year.
With his roots and knowledge in the Agricultural arena, Roger developed and sold various agricultural properties to farmers and land speculators. Clients included dairy, organic, row and tree crop producers, as well as land speculators who converted key properties for residential uses. This developed the need to develop abandoned properties, establish water rights, and install
irrigation infrastructure and delivery systems for undeveloped properties.
The national recession and real estate downturn of the 2007-2009 years led the marketing of residential REOs, short sales, and Trustee sales of distressed properties for REMAX Assured of Buckeye, AZ.
In 2009, Roger was selected by Project CENTRL, a University of Arizona sponsored leadership program, to represent La Paz County, AZ, in this two year program designed to train rural leaders for public service.
With the development of renewable energy mandates for California and Arizona, and the national need to reduce carbon emissions led to a focus to sell and/or lease desert properties to utility scale solar developers. In 2010-2011,
Roger enrolled in Oregon based Maryhurst University MBA program for Sustainable Business with a Renewable Energy Concentration.
In 2011, Roger received a B2 Commercial Building Inspectors license from the International Code Commission.
Roger serves on various community oriented boards such as President of the Cibola Mutual Water Company, the La Paz County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and Rotary International.
