"It was great! The school felt like a little family and helps young girls grow into wonderful, independent young women."

"The teachers go above and beyond for their students, they want to see us suceed. I didn't realize how much of a connection I had to the teachers until I graduated from the school; I found myself wanting to return and share with them my new knowledge that they had helped me gain."

"Woodward wasn't a normal high school, we had carpeted stairs, we had a chandalier in the lobby, and we had teachers that knew everyone's name in school. School is one of those places you want to get out of, but once you leave a school like Woodward, you wish you could go back. It is a welcoming, small school where everyone counts, creating a community."

"It's a very unique place due to its small size. I loved many aspects of it--I was very close with most of my teachers and I received extra tutoring easily whenever I needed it. The faculty is extremely supportive and attentive to each student's growth. The academics are wonderful, especially the classics program. The course selection was somewhat limited, but classes were often created for students' specific interests. Independent study courses are available for advanced students who are interested in pursuing studies that are not otherwise offered, but it depends on the availability and willingness of faculty. The humanities are definitely the strongest area...the school could definitely improve its STEM offerings to include more computer/tech-oriented classes and a more rigorous mathematics curriculum, but I believe it is working towards this goal. The visual arts department is strong and continues to improve, but could benefit from more collaboration with the computer department to modernize the course offerings. The theatre department is wonderful as well! Sports suffer from a lack of on campus facilities but still thrive. The community is very tight knit, but at times can feel a bit too small and socially limiting. I had great friendships with many of my classmates, but I found it was important to maintain friendships outside of the school as well. The absence of a brother school is definitely a downfall, but it is certainly not a defining factor! The administration is extremely supportive and is always working to improve student life through clubs, all school meetings, field trips, and other events. Overall, my Woodward experience was very positive and truly shaped my identity as a confident young woman. It is not the right fit for everyone, but academically motivated students who actively seek to involve themselves in the community will thrive in Woodward's nurturing environment."
