"The teachers were great and caring to everybody. However, the middle school is awful. Even though i had met some of my closest friends in middle school the teachers and the way is was structured was awful. The hardest subjects are science, and english I mine point of view. Some of the math teachers are fabulous but unless you know their teaching style then you will need to go to extra help sessions. In 6th grade english is good and manageable but 7th and 8th english is awful. You are not prepared for anything They expect you to know everything without even learning about it in class. This also happens in science but its worse. The other science teacher relies on the other teacher and expects us to learn from him. My class does poorly in class because she doesn't explain anything to us and when she does (like answers questions) she just repeats what we are confused about. I have meet the greatest friends I could ever ask for. Btw.. the dances and the houses for advisory is not good."

"I went to Dexter from fifth to eighth grade. The teachers are pretty good in general, and the sports are good as well. The school assigns advisors to kids from sixth grade and up, which is nice but would be better if they gave the students an opportunity to choose so that they won't get stuck with an advisor they don't feel comfortable talking to. On the other end, the food is horrible, probably the worst I've seen in a private school so far, and they don't let students bring in lunches from home."

"The academics at Dexter Southfield were impeccable. The teachers challenge you; you cannot slack off. They actually care about students as individuals and many close relationships are formed due to the small class sizes. However, it seemed like the worst teachers in each department were the heads of these academic departments, so many problems in the departments were unchangeable because these teachers were the cause of most of them. The food was terrible and with the cost of tuition, the school should be more willing to listen to students' requests for better food and more options. There is very very minimal diversity."
