"The building itself is a big drawback from the school, but the teachers make up for it. There are programs (like art, music, and other creative things) that could be better funded and encouraged. The teachers are the ones who provide this creativity in large, semester projects or in different styles of teaching to get everyone involved. The administration needs to pick up the slack and start to provide more to the students. They have the student population, they just haven't listened to the public regarding the way the school is run."

"The teachers are probably what make Lawrence. Many of the teachers I had made me laugh and they were respectful of my and my peers. They stay after school a lot to help kids. They use technology to help explain things and use games or groups to help us learn independently or to practice. I never asked a question that a teacher could not explain to me. There was one class I had that had several special needs kids, and they had an assistant. My teacher always paid attention to them so they didn't fall behind, and yet I cannot pinpoint a time our classroom ever had to slow down to help them catch up. She managed to teach on different levels in accordance to who needed what. Our teachers always cared about us and we would have mini competitions and have "team" activities, like Renaissance day or the Iditarod in the spring."

"I don't see a lot of peer pressure. People are generally pretty accepting, at least in their own social circle. People tend to stick to their circles, especially during these years of school. Lawrence is a majority white school, although there is a fair amount of people of different skin tones and ethnicities. This is not a problem; the vast majority of people there are not racist against others. There's not a lot for people to get involved in with the school though. Not many clubs, and if you don't play an instrument of do some other form or art then there's not a lot of choice for you. The administration also doesn't do a great job of getting people involved in things like the community or fundraising, although you do see smaller projects. There's no VIPS office there to help promote volunteers."
