"Souhegan is a school that prides itself on its academics. It teaches students to really know their subject inside and out, rather than teaching them to pass a test at the end of the year. This is because classes don't typically have a test at the end of the year, but typically have a final project. These projects often emphasis collaborative work in groups and help students pursue a particular component of the subject if they choose. For example, say the subject was on the Vietnam war a typical high school would have a test at the end where students would have to memorize the dates and facts about the subject, but at Souhegan they may be asked to do a project on the war and students may come back with a powerpoint presentation detailing how media drove public opinion about the war. That type of education causes kids to want to learn more about what they are being taught and better prepares them for the future."

"Souhegan is one of the most unique schools in the country in the way they do things. There are no bells to signal the end of classes, students address teachers by their first names, classes aren't taught to have kids pass a test at the end of the year, but they are taught to have the students understand the subject inside and out. These qualities make Souhegan one of the best schools in the country and better prepares students for college than most other schools."

"There is a huge bullying issue at this school that none of the facility is able to handle. The grading system leads to favoritism, which is usually of the students who come from money. We've changed principals three times in the last 5 years. On top of that, many teachers show no care for their students, whatsoever."

"Since starting college I have gained an appreciation for the teachers I had back in high school. Souhegan is unique because all of its teachers care about their students. They get involved with students lives and will do anything in their power to help students achieve their goals. Even now I am seeing my friends on Facebook becoming Facebook friends with teachers we had back at high school. I have been out of Souhegan for three years now and I still see those same teachers being involved in their past student's lives and that is truly special."

"The school isn't very diverse. A majority of the students that attend this school are middle class white kids. It is not a matter of this school being prestigious and that people of other cultures aren't welcome, it is a matter of the people that live in the town. There aren't a whole lot of people from the town that come from different backgrounds and that is reflected in the school. That being said, those students who do come to Souhegan from different backgrounds are welcomed to the school with open arms and don't have to wait to long to have a group of close friends."
