"I went to West for the STEAM program, scared because of the "ghetto" reputation it had. I quickly learned though, that the kids and teachers are incredibly sweet and caring people. The STEAM program is phenomenal, it is a project-based learning program that teaches an array of valuable life skills such as confidence in public speaking, problem solving in groups, analyzation and application of information, and communication."

"My main experience with West is through the music program which was (to say the least) absolutely outstanding! I got opportunities through the school to go on trips, experience festivals, perform for other schools, and enhance my musical ability to be at least triple what it used to be! As far as scholarship opportunities went after high school, I was offered enough to get me into SNHU for a year at the same price NHTI is for being a music student who took every opportunity I could to experience something new. About the poor safety rating, (I'm positive certain policies have changed since I was first going there) it wasn't uncommon for alums to come into the caf and blend in with other students. Which was great at the time if you had older friends who had graduated, but not great as far as holding a secure campus goes."

"West high school was a good school to go to. The outside view of the school was raw and harsh. Going to the school teaches a person about diversity and realism. The teachers are good with the children. Although, the athletics are not great the teams are still fun to be on."

"The school is incredibly diverse when it comes to race and sexuality. It is fairly diverse religion-wise. There is little to no bullying when it comes to race, religion, and sexuality."

"The classes were great, and the teachers were awesome when it came to their workload, grading policies, etc. You will be liked immediately if you are a good student and get all your work done."
