"The faculty changed way too much; it made it difficult for students to build relationships with their teachers."

"Teachers at STA are hit or miss. There are some who clearly love what they do, show energy during classes, and genuinely care about their students, and there are some who can be harsh, boring, or generally incompetent. Generally, the best teachers are teaching the classes that count. Organization and communication vary a lot from teacher to teacher, but after the first week or so of class it's easy to learn their expectations. Over the last couple years we've lost a few outstanding teachers, but any teacher that stays around for more than a few years is usually very friendly and understanding."

"Nearly every teacher I've had at this school has wanted me to succeed, and is always willing to help me"

"It's hard to call them cliques, but there are definitely distinct social groups at STA, and it's easy to be left in between. For some kids, STA is a great experience, but for me, the academics were too traditional and I found it hard to fit in. Many students here don't seem to pursue academics on their own, which is somewhat understandable for freshman, but outright sad to see in seniors. It would be easy for a student to be pushed through this school by their parents without being engaged by the community."

"The good parts of STA greatly outweigh the bad. Teachers are always available, the staff is very friendly, and they help students reach their fullest potentials. A word of advice is to get very involved your first year in order to make friends and get a solid friend group. For me that came through campus ministry. The worst part about STA is that not all teachers are equal. Some are extremely well qualified while others aren't as strong, but overall the education that students get at STA is unbeatable. I wouldn't change anything about my high school experience at STA."
