"My school ( Connecticut IB Academy) is an amazing school. This could be due to its small class sizes and great teachers, but also because of the students. My school is very diverse and is comprised of wonderful staff and students who are willing to help you in anyway possible in order for you to succeed. Overall, my school has a great support system. Connecticut I.B. Academy has a lot to offer students. There are a variety of different clubs and organizations that you can enjoy with your peers. Having this benefit in such a small school is great. With that being said, attending a small school for me has been wonderful, and I would choose to go to my small school each and every time if I could do it all over again. The communication with the teachers is wonderful and there is just a better learning basis for us as students. My favorite event which takes place at my school is the annual Michael Abelon Walk which is celebrated in order to commemorate the founder of our school due to him passing of pancreatic cancer."

"The teachers at my school are the best! Each teacher of course have their very own teaching style, yet it always seems to work out for the best. The main reason why I favor the teachers at my school so much, is that they are open to new ideas and concepts from the students' perspective. They are very knowledgeable about their subject area, but truly listen to what the students have to offer as well. Teachers at Connecticut I.B. Academy are great educators. This is evident when they can easily relate their learning topics to real world experiences, which in the long run helps us students to better understand the material being taught. The teachers are very consistent with their grading and really take the time and effort to go over and correct any mistakes you may have if asked."

"There are about three teachers that I can think of that actually make me feel comfortable and happy; yet, I do not understand their lessons. There are two classes that I really like: Art and Mathematical Studies. The art teacher is fantastic and helpful and kind, she is different than every other teacher at this school, and I can understand her class very well. As for math, it is taught by another kind teacher, yet I have trouble understanding the material sometimes. The teaching styles are confusing and offer little direction. There is very minimum interest or care for students, beside the teacher's favorite. Most of the teachers seem quite knowledgeable but they do not use it to the best of their advantages. The grading is tough and inconsistent. The communication skills are lacking. Also, the work is too much, does not help with learning, and is hard to complete. The majority of students at this school are not fond of the teachers. Also, there is no space or freedom given at this school; the students are treated with little respect and like elementary schoolers, 90% of the teachers are rude, not happy to be in class and be teaching, and talk negatively about students behind their backs. There is little being done for students with 504 plans."

"Not every teacher is able to take control unlike others."

"The only saving grace for this school for me is the art and english programs. These classes are fun, engaging, and educational. Although, there is usually unnecessary IB work requirements for both of these classes. Not to mention, you go through 4 years now of IB training and only around 20% of the students in the class revive the IB diploma. The rest of the class do not receive credits for college, acknowledgment, nothing besides the ability to write a decent essay in a small period of time. This school is only unique in how ridiculous the rules and requirements are in it. The principal and most of the staff have no respect for students and their space what so ever. The rules are unnecessary and should belong in an elementary school rather than the "number 1 high school in America". I would never go to this school again; in fact, I would pay to not have to."
