"Most of the teachers are very helpful, but sometimes you will run into the occasional one that is hard to deal with. I will keep them anonymous, but sometimes they don't know how to control the classroom (which is hard with unruly underclassmen or people who just don't take classes seriously) but, especially in higher level classes, the teachers are very helpful and respectful, but they expect the students to be so as well."

"I have always been happy with my teachers and some of them I adore. I am happy that my younger brothers have many of the outstanding teachers I had or knew were really great!"

"I mean, to be honest, I mostly hated it while I was there. The later years (11th and 12th grade) were not so bad, but freshman year and sophomore year were pretty horrible. There is the conventional stigmas against lower class-men. Things like calling freshmen "fresh meat" and the likenesses. It wasn't particularly bad, and having friends in some of the upper grades can certainly help the transition, but I imagine without some of them it would have been more difficult. The idea of tough love can really apply at the same time. The teachers can sometimes seem overly strict, but they are doing it for you. One teacher had an amazingly concrete facade of, well, being a jerk, but when you were actually having trouble outside the class, he was responsible and made sure his students were ok. He did so outside of class, which in my mind is more respectful because he recognizes the privacy of the students. Unfortunately, he is no longer a teacher at East Lyme High School, but there are still plenty of teachers that are very similar to him, with slightly less strict facades. I'm not sure that I would go back, but that's more a personal view on High Schooling in general. The school did it's best to make it the best transition it could, but it's still High School, and after all, that transition is very difficult. It's just that age group where very few people know the meaning of respect."
