"Students can be anywhere from super involved to not involved at all, depending on what they're into. The school is almost completely white and generally very wealthy so it definitely struggles with diversity. Regardless, students try to be accepting as possible. Most students are pretty friendly and outgoing as well as very intelligent. It's mostly preppy but you can find creative, artsy students at Folio (the school's lit mag) or nerdy students in the computer science class or the Science Olympiad club. Most people are fiscally conservative but socially liberal and the town leans to the right, consistently voting Republican in elections. The school can get very cliquey at times and while people will mingle, most have a core group of friends. In comparison to other schools, the party scene is kind of exclusive to each friend group rather than being open house and there's only parties like once or twice a month instead of every weekend."

"While the school is not very diverse (being primarily upper-middle class, heterosexual, white people) they are very accepting of the few that do not fit into the aforementioned stereotype."

"If you are part of a big crowd of friends there is a lot of pressure, but if you float around and do what you want youll be find, like me"

"The teachers are just fantastic and the education is incredible. Coming from an upper class suburb, a few of the kids can be a little spoiled (you see a lot of BMW's and new Jeeps in the parking lot as well as preppy clothes) and it's like 95% white, but most of them are very polite and kind and try to be as open-minded as they can in the bubble that is Westfield. However, there is almost no school spirit. There are no Friday night lights because neighbors don't want the lights to keep them up at night so football games are (or were, until the state championship was won at least) pretty poorly attended and other sporting events can forget it. The only real school dance is prom (the student council has tried to put on a homecoming dance but not many people turn up) and most people are only excited for the weekend after. Academically, the school is extraordinarily competitive and there is a lot of pressure on kids to do well and earn straight A's. It is a very cutthroat environment, a "what'd you get" kind of school, and there is a lot of very difficult homework assignments. The parents are your stereotypical over involved suburban soccer moms but they mean well. I'd say the worst part of the high school is the administration which both the students and the teachers despise. Parking is also very limited and the school has a very long day (7:30 to 2:45). In spite of its size, WHS can be very cliquey."

"WHS has been great for my children and I feel they are extremely lucky to be able to attend. At times I do think there is a high level of pressure for academic success and being well rounded with a mount of clubs/sports extra circular activities etc., but overall I feel the students manage it well. In the long run they will be highly prepared for the college they chose and be able to perform in stressful times while still finding time to enjoy life itself."
