"My son Gregory came to his current high school and emotional/psychological mess. He was at times agoraphobic and couldn't leave the home, so during his first year his attendance was a great problem. During the next 3 years this school which is Manalapan High School but he attended a part of the school which was called the RLA(Regional Learning Academy)This was a pilot program that was for children with emotional/behavioral issues. My son had severe emotional never behavioral issues. When attended he was a star pupil. Back to what I was saying..this special program saved my son's life. They gave constant psychological support i.e. daily therapy groups sessions, weekly one on one therapy sessions, and any time if he felt he needed guidance or help in between they were there for him. And, of course, all the academics included. It was a war with many battles. My son now has a 3.75 GPA, he was the first RLA student to have the honor of Student of the Month(with him on a placard pic and all in the entrance of the school, and the first time a Vice-Principal recommended a RLA student for the honor, he just received a $1000 scholarship(first for a RLA student)My son has become the young man I've always wanted him to be, prayed for him to be but quite honestly, with his history never thought it would ever come to fruition. I have to be the most honored, proud mother that has ever lived. From never thinking he would ever have the mental stability and health to ever prosper to amazing every single person in the RLA and including and especially me who fought tooth and nail to get the help he needed and deserved...I may have lost many friends, academic leaders and anyone that may have TRIED to stand in his way. Some mainstream teaching officials demanded that education came first and mental health was secondary. My scream from the mountains was without mental health there can never be a true, formal education. Well this RLA heard and agreed. The world is his oyster now!!"

"My son's entire school career from pre-school to the first day of Manalapan High School-RLA was a horror no parent could ever image. This school gave my son almost every tool to succeed as a valuable, life changing, lover of life, go getter, a boy with dreams that can now be realized that was almost thrown to the wayside because of "tunnel vision" thinking in mainstream school rules that I feel are antiquated, have no interest of treating children as individuals with individual needs and mostly look at schooling as a whole and if a child does have issues that need to be met and these children don't fit the schools so-called "guidelines" that these children are considered belligerent, "bad seeds", and get punishment rather than help and rehabilitation."

"Before this school my son social skills were zero!! Never my left home, stayed in his room always, never knew the realities of the world. At first, I was scared and very hesitant to send him there. It was our last resort. The mainstream educational and some mental health professionals wanted him removed from the home to attend a group home (RTC). I wouldn't have it. So then we came upon this new school with this program that would give him all the help he would need and be able to stay home. I, of course,I was apprehensive because I have yet met anyone in the education profession actually have the same views on without mental health first and everything else secondary. And the RLA actually thanked me for standing my ground and knowing what my son needed and never wavering. I actually was taking to court and at the age of 50 have a rap sheet with truancy on it. Anyway one of my biggest concerns was my socially na"

"AT the price of sounding redundant....every single teacher, counselor, therapist, etc. Is extremely well in tune to every need of each of every student. Im blown away with their intelligence, honesty, sincerity and are very human. They are loved by every student. My son is very sad about leaving them after graduation. Actually, when there are days off or summer vacation comes he actually misses school and can't wait to return. This is from a child that barely attended school..."
