"Really loved the extracurriculars - most people went to school just so that they could go to practice or rehearsal afterwards. Had some wonderful(and not so wonderful) teachers that prepared me well for my college courses. It is just a very conservative administration that promotes very conservative ethos: abstinence, pro-life, girls should be covered, etc. with zero emphasis on LGBTQ, women, minorities, poverty even though several students fall under these categories (excluding poverty). I think the administration also likes to think of Coleman as this diamond in the rough of Hudson Valley schools, when in reality several of the public schools offer more AP courses and have up-to-date technology (a public school in the area gave its students iPads to do their homework on). Ridiculous, McCarthy-style dress code crackdowns are common there: I wore the same pair of pants for three years with no issues and suddenly, one day in my junior year, I was cornered by the principal and dean who told me I couldn't wear them again because they were jeans. I said they were corduroy and corduroy was in the dress code. They responded that because they had rivets on the pockets, they were jeans. Later in the day of the corduroy incident, they went so far as to suggest that we students hit up our grandparents for some money to buy clothes that fit the dress code they had changed with no warning. I was only ever more appalled by the pro-life assembly that said contraception shouldn't be called protection because what does it really protect from? There was also a Holocaust to abortion comparison that even a nun working at the school found to be in poor taste, along with an explanation that a women who is raped probably won't get pregnant because her fallopian tubes tighten and make it hard for her to release an egg. If you want to get into a good college, Coleman will help you. Just try to focus on the good things and not let the administration get you down with its B.S."

"My first semester of college was a breeze. Mrs. Paisley's college writing class really prepared me for writing papers and the workload I would have. I did not feel as prepared outside the classroom, though. I did not know how to use a condom. I did not even know that several contraceptives existed, e.g., the shot, the implant, copper-based IUDs. My college is one of the top 10 most diverse in the US, so I felt overwhelmed in such a diverse setting. A lot of students stay in the area for community college because they don't know what they want to do yet, so it is hard to gauge the school's outcomes. I was accepted to my college with a scholarship and after my first year of undergrad was awarded a public policy fellowship, so I think I reflect well on Coleman. Some students do well, some don't. But many, MANY students come out after high school and are pleasantly surprised that college is such a welcoming, tolerant place."
