"Overall I feel this is a good school district. The teachers and other staff are great at corresponding with parents regarding their student concerns."

"The teachers really care about the students and use many teaching styles that work for the majority of students and not just one teaching style. They are often available if the students need help."

"Overall I think the teachers at my school are good at their jobs but lack the passion, with exception for a select few. I don't always agree with the teaching styles of some, for example my Advanced Placement United States History teacher taught mainly in a lecture style where he would often go off on tangents which seemed meaningless but often connected back to the topic, it was often difficult for me to grasp the main idea in this class but he provided chances for students to ask questions and held review classes. Most teachers did not teach in a lecture style but more with a combination of lectures and hands on activities. The vast majority of my teachers seemed to care for the success of their students and showed this by providing extra help and staying late with the students. The teachers I had knew what they were talking about but I feel some weren't passionate. Some teachers were evidently dedicated and loved teaching and their students but then their were others who seemed to have an attitude that they didn't care whether we pass or fail. Grading at my school and being up to date on my grades was very important to me, my school has a program called the Pass System where teachers are able to submit their grades for the students assignments and post messages to the students/parents. Waterloo's school policy is that teachers are to update the PASS system every week. This was great for the most part, most teachers were always posting regularly and inputting new grades. However there were a few teachers, one comes to mind in particular my junior year Physics teacher, who would simply press refresh each week without inputting grades. The majority of teachers were consistent with their grading though. I think the overall majority of the teachers were great teachers and mentors but their were a few who were lacking to say the least. For the reasons I have stated above I have given the WHS teachers the rating of "It's great.""

"I think attending Waterloo School has shaped me as an individual and has provided me with great experiences. I think the best part about my school is the administrators willingness to work with the students to make the school and overall experience as best as possible. The summer between my junior and senior year I was asked to join the principal and vice principal for a meeting with a select group of kids who like myself had in someway shown leadership. The principal who had started this is an amazing woman and it was her first year as a high school principal though she was vice principal at the middle school previously. At this meeting she provided lunch and we talked about issues in the school from the previous year and how she could make the school better and a more enjoyable place. She had an interest in what the students had to say and made changes we suggested and we came to agreements on other issues. This principal made my senior year great because of her actions. She has brought back school spirit and school pride, this year is how I actually pictured high school. The atmosphere at WHS has taken a drastic change for the better and it is a great school now. Our school's Gemini Program also makes the school great, education is important to me and so is a challenge. My school has partnered with the local community college to provide college credit classes at the school for a reduced price. The Gemini program has given me an enriched educational experience, I have grown as a student from it and have benefitted all around. The last thing that makes my school great is the opportunities to join clubs run by passionate leaders. There is a handful of clubs available at my school and everyone I am in is run by an advisor who is passionate about the club. They often take us on field trips to make our experiences in those club the best it can be. For the three reasons I have listed above I would gladly redo this experience at WHS over agin."
