"Buffalo Seminary is an amazing school. The academics at SEM are good for a few different reasons. One being that SEM does not participate in NYS regents/ common core, teachers have more time to go in depth with lessons and provide more in class help. This has led to me having more knowledge on the topics some of my friends that attend public/private schools that do participate in regents. Another reason that I think SEM has a good academic program is because they offers multiple different courses in arts, humanities, maths/sciences. I can chose to take a different courses like Foundations of Art, a science based researched class, Financial Algebra, and AP courses. I can even choose to create my own class, as an independent study. I'm leaving SEM well-seasoned for my college career. Some friends, who are recent alums agree that the skills gained at SEM put them further ahead then their classmates. If I had to do it over again, I would chose SEM hands down."

"I really liked Buffalo Seminary's rigorous college preparatory academic program. It prepared me quite well for the challenges of MIT and allowed me to explore and cultivate my interests and talents. Specifically, my love for math and science grew as I took AP courses; additionally, I developed my talent and love for writing in SEM's challenging and enjoyable humanities (English and history) courses. However, certain aspects of the school's social culture occasionally bothered me. The hints of elitist behavior on the part of the school board/students and occasional racial insensitivity/prejudice made it a place where not everyone was always completely welcome."
