"I've just finished four years at the Lower School, and am now looking forward to starting at the Upper School in the fall. The Upper School admissions has done a very good job in educating the 8th grade class about what the next four years will be like. I have visited the Upper School multiple times, and I love the environment and community. My brother is very involved in athletics at the Upper School, and from what I understand, the teachers have always been very accommodating student athletes in leaving early from class, needing extensions on work, etc. I recently worked out my schedule for the next four years, and as it stands now, I will be taking 9 or 10 AP classes, my first being AP Latin in 10th grade. The school provides students with conference time each day, during which teachers are required to be in their rooms to reteach the lesson if needed. The new schedule provides students with extra time for studying, conference, and homework."

"I do not recommend this school. I miss my friends and did not make new ones. Most people here are stuck up."

"Terrible experience. If you are not in the individual crowd, you may as well be gone. Teachers and staff have their pets and everyone else is dead meat. As a white student I am amazed to see what black students put up with."

"In my experience, teachers have been everything between amazing, decent, and terrible (the most terrible one is gone now, so that's probably not a big problem right now). The overall experience next year is probably going to be noticeably different than in my time due to a new schedule that's being implemented. I would say for sure that you get prepared quite well for college (depending on your counselor, the admissions process can vary) and you will be able to challenge yourself academically if you so desire. I will say that there's a really stupid first year science class you have to take that's pretty pointless, so you might have to take double classes in that subject your sophomore year if you really want to excel in that field. Also, if you have an interest in either fine or performing arts, there are a ton of excellent opportunities (the best of which being the jazz band)."

"Loved my experiences at sem!! Definitely provided rigorous courses and has opened me to different opportunities for the future. I enjoyed meeting students from all around the world and learning with them--- connections that will last a lifetime. Teachers were always willing to help out and are very understanding. Hope they have more day student/boarder events in the future like the Open Dorms concept. Overall quite worth the price tag."
