"Solebury School has a good philosophy that is poorly executed. The idea of letting a child's "mind breathe" is sorely needed in our culture. Unfortunately, current admission standards have dropped and this has led to numerous problems. In addition, the campus lacks proper nursing staff and has no on site counselor. Teacher-Advisors act as surrogate counselors and do not maintain confidentiality. There are some outstanding teachers and they must be disappointed at the current situation on campus."

"The kids are so accepting so my son tells me, but the administrators are AWFUL, the entire school just wants money, always asking for donations. They are also very difficult to deal with, I personally could not stand them, neither could other parents, especially Bill Christy. Some of the teachers are AMAZING, like great people who really care and others are just awful. The learning skills program is awful, and a complete waste of money as they did not help my child with any of his work when he asked for it, the school seams good, but once you pay it is just awful."

"Solebury School was a great experience for our two sons. They had wonderful teachers, a supportive environment, a good curriculum and, most of all, they enjoyed going to school. The reason they enjoyed school is because the atmosphere at Solebury is very satisfying for teenagers. The teachers and administrators treat them with respect, and the students appreciate that. The students are continually encouraged to accept one another, regardless of differences, so bullying and clique behavior is minimal. The school gives the students a lot of independence and control over their time, which helps them feel relaxed and less stressed. Overall, Solebury School is great environment for learning and growing."

"As a boarding school, Solebury is a disaster. Lacking weekend activities or supervision, students turn to their own forms of entertainment. This policy is defended by suggesting better preparation for college life. Well, most 18 year olds are challenged by their first years away from home; can you imagine how a 15 year old might react? For a school that prides itself on progressive thinking, Solebury s disciplinary process is antiquated, inflexible, and ineffective. Last year a major incident ensued after a student had undergone the disciplinary process. He had been coerced into reporting on his friends leaving him completely ostracized. Distraught, he reacted by setting the student lounge on fire. Certainly tragic however, the lesson lies in Solebury s reaction. Shortly thereafter, the director issues a letter absolving Solebury of any responsibility. Even more shocking was his insistence that if ever faced with similar circumstances, they would do nothing differently; yes, nothing. Solebury has some very good teachers. Unfortunately, administration s poor management skills, sense of entitlement, and lack of accountability make this school a non-starter for perspective boarders."

"The Solebury School is small, diverse, and personalized. Staff and faculty all work very hard to create an environment that encourages intellectual and personal growth, as well as social consciousness. The low student:staff ratio makes it hard for students to fall through the cracks. In my experience, Solebury's staff and faculty have been very responsive to individual students' unique learning needs, and for those students who need extra assistance, a fine Learning Support program is available, unusual in scope and quality for a school its size."
