"There is a place for everyone at this school, considering all the clubs and sports activities. Almost every kid is involved in something....if not, it is by their own choice, not because they are excluded from joining. It is a small school so it is like a family. Freshman, sophmores, juniors and seniors are all friends with each other...there is no real class separation (freshman only hang out with freshman, etc). As a graduating senior, I would absolutely do it all over again and choose the same school."

"They go above and beyond what is required to help students achieve their goals and understand the material. The grading is ...you earn what you earn..some classes don't offer "extra credit" because the teachers want you to try the hardest during the semester and not rely on "extra credit" to bring up your grade."

"The majority of the teachers at DMA are incredibly dedicated and great at their jobs. But, there are a select few that do not know how to handle/discipline their kids which can effect how other students learn tremendously. All teachers are willing to help students in need and they will respect you if you respect them. One thing that sets DMA teachers apart is that they actually care about their students and want them to learn and do well. Grading is fairly consistent but the grading policy changes by department (English, math, science etc.)"

"DMA is a very different experience compared to an average high school. The military aspect takes some getting used to but it becomes habit after a few months in the program. The uniform can get annoying, but I guess that comes with the whole military academy thing. One aspect of DMA that I really do not like though is the lack of variety in classes. I am a good student and I wish there were more options to chose from besides the average run of the mill classes. DMA does a terribly poor job in scheduling also so it is never possible to fit all of the classes I want in (this also has to do with a lack of space/staff members). I am only able to take up to two AP classes per year and one elective. Naval Science is also a required course which i find ridiculous because during junior and senior year, Naval Science is essentially a free period. It is frustrating to know that I am capable of handling a more rigorous schedule but because of scheduling issues cannot."

"At first when I applied I didn't really want to go there, but it was one of the only schools that accepted me. So I ended up going. At first I thought I didn't fit in but after a few years and the right people, I began to love it. its fun, I know crazy right, and the teachers are great, and you can really be yourself."
