"Gilman was everything I could have hoped for in a school... up until my senior year. Considering our ongoing feud with one of our sister schools, our administration failed to cater to our perspective at all, and instead turned upon their own students in an effort to appease those who disagreed with the cultural and political opinions of their boys. The lack of administrative cooperation between the two schools was appalling, but understandable considering the other school involved had little to no administrative authority over their students, allowing them to dictate how Gilman should respond. Other than this, my time was astounding. The teachers are brilliant and know how to teach boys, the college counseling office helped everyone get into their dream schools, and I made friendships that will last a lifetime."

"Gilman School provided me with a place to grow and to challenge myself for 6 years. Since starting there, I have found my interests in Foreign Language, and I have been able to put in all of the time I wanted to challenge myself to become a better linguist. Every other student has had the same opportunity with his own specific interests; that is the beauty of Gilman."

"Gilman provided an excellent education for my son. His interest was classics which set him up with for college admission. He also had a great sport experience."

"As an alum and as a parent very pleased with school. Son graduated two years ago and things have changed even in that short time frame. Facilities improved, and the issues raised with football have been addressed. The football fall-out not over, but moving forward. Work now on improving meaningful diversity meaning more then just percentages, but integration into all aspects of school. Focus now on admissions and college placement. Smyth has been excellent."

"Gilman is a motivated community! In the past five years, they have made substantial efforts to improve the beauty of the campus and the experience for the boys who attend. With the addition of geographically diverse and young faculty, they have been able to connect traditional learning values with the new generation. Historically, Gilman has been one of the best private boys school on the east coast. Today, they continue the legacy of excellence in all that they do."
