"This is a really good school. Their is a lot of attention given to students as the class sizes are small. The teachers are excellent and the administration is very responsive. I would highly recommend it to others."

"The New School teachers are consistently top-notch. They develop challenging, interesting classes and hold students accountable for performance. At any school, students with a high level of engagement and motivation are likely to maximize their learning. What makes the New School teachers different is their skill and persistence at reaching out in innovative ways to all their students. They tailor a personal approach to challenge each student to improve academically and to take greater responsibility for their own education. With class sizes of about 12 students, this approach works wonders."

"The New School is a great fit for our family. The student body is welcoming and the faculty thoughtful and reflective about their work. Unlike larger schools, students get a lot of personal attention and are encouraged to think critically about a range of issues. The structure of the courses allows teachers and students to explore unique topics in more depth than typical curricula allow. The portfolio and exhibition processes require students to truly be responsible for their own learning and understand how it applies to the larger world. This is in sharp contrast with multiple choice assessments we have observed at other schools. As for a the social environment, there is much less pressure to fit in with a certain crowd than often occurs at larger schools. Staff and students truly appreciate the unique perspectives and strengths that each person contributes to the community. Many activities are organized by students themselves and we have found that our son has been able to be involved in more activities than would have been possible at a larger school."

"I loved this school and I miss the community. I was there from 8th grade-12th and it allowed me to pursue my intellectual interests. There are some really, really excellent teachers at the school. Some of the best I've ever had. I can't emphasize it enough. Really dedicated, intellectual, patient, amazing teachers and the school admin was great too--Joan and Steve work wonders and everyone cares about the student. They have "portfolio reviews" which allow students to showcase their best academic work. It really helped me grow academically. The teachers and students are supportive of each other academically and the environment is small and friendly. The teacher-student ratio is small which is vital to the environment John (and everyone else) is able to maintain. I learned a lot about academia and myself. It prepared me for colleges. It's a safe place, a good place. Go in for an interview with John (headmaster) and tour of the school and trust your instincts. It's not the school for everyone, but it is for a lot of people. Together John, Joan, Steve, etc. can work to figure out if the school is right for you and your student/child."
