"Even though I have only been going to this school for a year, I have met so many amazing people and have had many memorable experiences. If there were to be things I would change, I would definitely say that the school definitelt has to rethink the modular schedule. While it does have its benefits, the classes are often rushed and the students do not retain the information as well as they would if they went to a school with a semester or trimester based schedule. I strongly believe the purpose of getting a high school education is to gain life skills, specifically how to adapt to stressful working situations, and to have at least a basic grasp on things like writing research papers and working with fractions. Although this school does that, I still believe a traditional semester or trimester schedule would work more effectively in delivering those life skills to the students. Also, I feel like the students are not as academically focused as they should be. The majority of students here are definitely hard working, but perhaps it is because I have a different definition of hard working that I believe that the students should be even more hard working than they are currently. It is definitely not completely the teachers fault that the students are not doing as well on standardized tests such as the AP's, SATs, etc., but they should encourage the students to aim higher and set a better example for the students. Personally, I am not challenged here, as I do not believe that this is the best school that I could have gotten into, but since it is the only school I applied to, I am going to take advantage of the opportunities that they are giving to me here. I sincerely think that this is a great school, but it definitely can be made better."

"The majority of teachers at this school are extremely dedicated to giving their students the best education they possibly can. From my experience, the teachers are always readily available over email, often have conferences with students, and are always willing to help a student improve. They are always patient, hardworking, thorough, and extremely kind. Specifically the department heads (language department head, English department head, etc.) so much more than is expected and work extremely hard to keep the school running."

"While I was at Madeira, I didn't appreciate it enough. But once I went to college and saw what other schools were like, I realized Madeira is spectacular. Academics are rigorous. Extracurriculars are glowing, especially the theatre department. Clubs are pretty great, especially the GSA which is highly active. It is important to keep in mind, however, that the schedule at Madeira changed starting my senior year. Classes are now taught through a very complicated 7 module schedule instead of 2 semesters. Each module is 5 weeks, during which you take 3 classes. The result pretty much was that no one retained anything. My overall ranking of the Mod Schedule is very very poor. Madeira really needs to improve this or my overall ranking of what was such a great school will be much much lower."
