"Most of the teachers here have masters degrees and are well qualified to teach their respective subjects. In general, most teachers have high expectations for their students and assign a large amount of homework, especially in AP classes. Technology is well incorporated in the classroom, with every classroom having smartboards and all students and teachers having iPads. The downside to academics is that most tests are regurgitation rather than knowledge application, leading to an academic culture where everyone crams the knowledge the night before for the test and then forgets it the next day."

"Franklin Academy is a rigorous character school with roughly 500 students, almost all of whom are adequately prepared for college. The curriculum is very rigorous with many AP and honors classes offered. Most of the teachers are exceptional and have high expectations for their students, with most of the students being preppy and white. There is very little diversity at this school in terms of race, religion, political beliefs, or even socioeconomic status. Achieving a high class rank at this school is very difficult given the high caliber of the students within the top 25%. There are an absurd number of valedictorians, with an average of 15% of the class (generally between 15 and 20 people) achieving this designation by obtaining above a 4.7 weighted GPA. There is very little school spirit and an overemphasize on playing sports. Overall there are clubs but little active engagement in them. Most people join clubs and honor societies purely to put on their college applications. This school will get you prepared for college, but the process sucks and you probably would have achieved a much higher class rank by going to a public school. The social scene here also sucks and is only available to the popular jocks. If you aren't white and don't play 3 varsity sports then you won't fit in here. The academic overachievers in the class also have little support from faculty and student body. There is one college counselor and her advise is never useful and should be disregarded. Her advise ruined my freshman year GPA. If I could redo high school I would have never went here."

"If I could go back to when I started Franklin academy and decide if I wanted to go I would not. There have been many days I haven't gone to school just because I was so emotionally and physically drained from it. I cry or get stressed to the max many times a day. (Crying isn't an exaggeration) it's not only me also, many of my friends have the same problems I do. The sports aren't anything special and no one has school spirit making it not even fun. Outside activities are supposed to make up for the lack of fun you have during school and the stress, but when the are none, it's pointless"

"There are very view teachers that understand their class isn't the only class you have. A lot of teachers act like their class is the most essential and should be put first. The work load of the teachers is a lot and when you have seven classes it adds up fast. The teaching styles very. Some prefer pages and pages of work sheets, some prefer just standing and lecturing, etc. I personally, never felt like I wasn't being judged by a teacher when I went to get outside help. The principal has called me many times trying to explain they're here because they want to help, but personally, it feels they're there to make a monthly check. Not only are teachers very heavy on work, they don't care about excuses or outside problems that make you fall behind"

"The academics at our school are horrible. It's not about learning anything anymore, as long as you get it done and be able to just write random stuff down enough to get a passing grade."
