"I came from a bad place where I was bullied and battled depression. Coming to CDS was very good for my mental health as the positive and uplifting environment among students helped me come out of my shell. However, once you get through the sugar-coating around the school, it is filled with a mix of petty, preppy, and sheltered kids with rich helicopter parents. There are a few students in every grade who are economically, religiously, and sexually diverse but they are few and tend to band together in a few small groups across the school. This school is unique in its religious requirements. It honestly tends to shove Christianity down the students' throats at every chance it gets, which I feel has led more people away from the religion than to it. If I had to do it all over, I would probably still choose this school again because overall it was beneficial to my mental health and I found a few great friends there that I wouldn't miss out on for the world."

"For the most part, the teachers at CDS are very qualified and teach well in their field. However, the school has a habit of keeping on a few teachers who are unhelpful, don't teach well, and let their personal opinions and issues influence their teaching. I once took a class, Environmental Science, and we covered very little of the course material because every day the teacher would come in and bemoan her own problems instead of teaching us. On a broader scale, most of the teachers at CDS truly care about the students in a personal and academic sense and teach well. There are a few teachers that teach in a way that is really only beneficial to students who learn audibly (in contrast to visual learners), but it's not too bad. The communication between students and teachers is steady and students are often given the feeling of equality in the classroom, even if the teacher holds more authority. Teachers are very understanding of schedules and conflicts such as sports, theatre, or mission trips that the student may have. Overall, most teachers are very skilled and are greatly beneficial to the learning environment at CDS."

"My teachers care and want to help as much as they can and they also truly care about students as people not just other people in the classroom."
