"There is a continuing problem between the quality of honors teachers and non-honors teachers. I was an honors student, and I believe the school kept quality for those who were innately smart. My fiance also attended this school a few years prior to me, and she was, like many of my friends who attended with me at the time, enrolled in normal non-honors classrooms. It is widely known across the campus that non-honors teachers are much more vulnerable to not be as engaged when they teach, sometimes not even teaching at all because they cannot control the classroom behavior or motivation to learn. There are frequent racists administrators, male teachers who stalk their students, and I personally experienced first hand discrimination in the classroom with no teacher authority doing anything about it. Overall, if you receive an honors teacher the quality of the classroom is superb as compared to the rest of the teacher population. Many turn a blind eye to bullying, illegal activity, and the blatant need for these students to learn the material."

"There is not much of a tutoring source available for students so that is why I rated it as "okay." There are many AP classes available, as well as an opportunity to take a few college courses your junior/senior year. The only problem is that it is very difficult to get into these classes. There are numerous outstanding teachers, programs like Learn TV that connect students to outside sources, but again they are hard to get into and I was simply one of the lucky ones."

"While there is a roughly equal amount of Caucasians and African Americans in the school, they are strongly divided in their culture. The groups do not intermingle, only in cases of athletic teams do they find themselves associating strongly with one another. There is no support group for LGBTQ students, and it is constantly shunned to be spoken about. One time in a classroom my teacher preached that the reason the Roman Empire fell was because they had legalized gay relations. This teacher continued to take a poll in class on the belief of same-sex marriage; those who opposed it and those who were against. I quickly found myself surrounded by an army of antagonistic conservatives, and I left the classroom immediately. This teacher continues to teach today, he is the female soccer teams' coach, leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and teaches the highest available history course at the school."

"My favorite experience at this school was the AP Classes offered. Many rural public schools around the area do not have this privileged, and for the first time in my student career I was challenged by the higher thinking material. This school is unique because it has a "Learn TV" program which I was a part of; an public TV channel dedicated to the students. I enjoyed this as well because it provided me with sources of recommendation to enter a military academy after high school. Many students, however, do not take advantage of these items because they are so difficult to get into. Many of these classes are won by chance. I would not chose this school again because I suffered many trials throughout my four years. I was the only lesbian individual for a few years, which brought on the beginning of my mental degradation. I do not regret this, but I may have chosen a school that was less rural and closer to an open-minded city 45 minutes away. As I entered the military academy I would regain my confidence that was long thrown away in high school."

"The reason why I wouldn't choose to go to another school is because every person at that school accepts you for whom you are not where you came from and that's what I love most about Lancaster High School we stick together as a whole."
