"My grandson attends pre-school here. The only thing negative I have to say is that they are not really taught much of anything. Pre-school here is basically to get them use to what it is like to go to school. There is no homework. This troubles me. The teacher is very impressed with my grandsons knowledge. They were asked to do patterns and he was the only one who could do a complicated pattern. I fear he was learning more at home than he currently is at school. His/their minds are like little sponges right now. They need to be challenged. He has a very nice teacher. It is hard to know how to accurately rate the school. My grandson loves going and loves his teacher. It has been a good experience for him so far. Reading other ratings I feel parents scored a little lower than appropriate. Some who were happy didn't even give a rating. For that reason I'm giving a score of five to help give a more accurate overall rating. Otherwise I would have given a 3 & 1/2."

"My son attended 1st grade here. It was an awful experience. There was a field trip that was cancelled, the school never informed parents that trip was cancelled. At least 3 days a week the bus was over 30 minutes late to drop kids off and there was never any communication from the school. My son has special needs and they denied him services saying he was fine. He was behind in Language Arts and they had to call me to get help with his outburts. He was punished 19 times in 10 weeks for not being able to complete his work on time when his disability is known for needing extra time to complete work. When I addressed my concerns with the principal, I was flat out told by him that communicating with the parents was not a priority. Also, my son missed many days of school due to health reasons, I sent in a doctors note every single time. I got letters home about unexcused absences. When he didn't have a single unexcused absence. I had to take time out of my day to fix their screw ups so I didn't have to go to court for their failure to do their jobs. Absolutely nothing positive to say about our experience at this school!"

"Take these reviews with a grain of salt....Everyone will have different opinions based on their own child. I have 2 children currently at this school. We came from another school (same district) that we loved and I took quite a while to warm up to this school (My hubby says I was being snooty, he may be right). That being said I think it is a fantastic school. I know we earned some higher awards there this past year. Dr. Dye (The Principal) is VERY involved I can't believe someone said he didn't care (again take it with a grain of salt) I have never been unable to reach him and regularly see him outside helping kids into the school or just greeting parents. I see him at every assembly and performance. My kids love him too. The teachers so far have been great. Some offer after school tutoring (at least mine did when she needed it) I love the amount of diversity in this school and we have made some really great friends. My only real gripe is I would like there to be a little more involvement/updating on the website (that is how I really stay informed while I am working) and I would say it needs to be a little more organized when there are awards/performances. We love JPES!!"

"My son attended JP for 4 years and last year went so poorly that I pulled him out at the end of the year. This school has some very good teachers and a few that should not be teaching and a Principal that didn't seem to care very much about my concerns for my child even when he was bullied."
