"The teachers are really good it depends also on the students some of them try to work hard for their grades some don't some teachers try their best to help students even outside of class.I had an awesome experience at Douglass high school you make a lot of friends and you can join a lot of clubs I was in soccer, music, and art."

"The overall culture of the school is now terrible.I say this because we don't ever get the correct leadership we need within the school. The school is now worse then it has ever been in the fact that each year there is a new principal at the school who has never worked with inner city children and has an elementary school background. The only thing that makes the school truly unique is we have a wonderful fine arts department that cares for the children more than all the other teachers in the school combined. The teachers in the fine arts department are the ones who have gotten the school under control.I defiantly wouldn't choose this school again if i could do it all over because in my honest opinion this is not a high school anymore it has turned into a complete circus with no ring leader.I need to be in a place where education is first and behavior issues are not ever thought about."

"At Fredrick Douglass High School most teachers are not willing to help struggling students when they know they are struggling because of that certain teacher who is not doing there job adequately.Teachers are not helping the students when they ask for help in the classroom during the provided 90 minute class time. The teaching style is very hostile and its not allowed an flexibility to adhere to the different students type of learning style. Most of the teachers at Douglass do not even show up to work on a regular day to day basis to teach there own classes. When these teachers are not here they are not leaving work in which they admit that they do and put it in the official grade book as a grade which i feel is very unfair. I feel they are setting students up for failure and not our post secondary education options. Most teachers are not very consistent with there grading process either, in which i mean they give out work that they don't ask for and they put it in the grade book for each individual student. They also won't grade assignments that the students do turn in or it takes them months to grade them. I feel like this is very unacceptable and needs to be corrected sooner than later."

"For the most part, while I was attending Douglass, my teachers were excellent in their styles of teaching and engaging the students in the lesson, dispite the ruckus and drama that occurs inside and outside of the classroom."
