"Although not the best school, it is an option for those if it is close by or maybe for middle school. There are lots of things that could be improved and maybe they will be one day but as for now it's just an okay school. The overall lack of challenging classes and engaging teachers who know what they're teaching is what throws me off. Sure the discipline is way off track and some of the facilities are run down but when it comes down to it it's really the education you're getting that matters and I believe that my peers and I are not receiving an adequate education to prepare us for college."

"Not a lot of teachers do more than they need to. The ones that do are usually disliked by the students because the student body overall is very lazy and unprepared for anything college level. The students who do good normally are naturally gifted or have attended other schools/have outside help exc. Certain teachers are great but really it just depends on what teachers you're assigned to take your classes with. Some classes you're better off taking online because they're taught purely through videos and when you ask for help the teacher will tell you they don't know or to find out from your book. Some classes the teachers can't keep control of their classroom for long enough to even teach anything and you will leave knowing nothing about the subject which I have learned will REALLY hurt you while taking your SAT or ACT. What I really dislike is that while being evaluated, the okay teachers suddenly have complete control over their class and involve their students and teach very well but as soon as the administrator leaves it goes back to normal. This makes me believe that maybe some of the teachers are just lazy. Many of the classes lack the engagement required in a learning environment, such as labs or the chance to ask questions and actually learn NOT straight out of the text book. Don't get me wrong not EVERY teacher is like this- but a lot are and right now only half of my classes are ones that I am truly getting a good learning experience from."

"The teachers are a constant pain. Only good teachers Ive ever had at this school are Mrs. Chapman (who retired), Mr and Mrs Ratzlaff, Joe Good, and Mr. Attard. These five teachers have been the only ones there for me since I have been at hca (13 years). They are the only ones that care and go the extra mile and have helped me grow academically and spiritually. Mrs. V and Mr. Canning are amoung the worst teachers ive ever encountered at hca. A better job title would be babysitter because they don't do a single thing in there class. Sandardized Tests and quizes, reading off lecture slides, and quoting the book does not count as teaching. Only thing they have taught me was how to struggle. These two could care less about their job and how much effort they put into making their class better reflects it. I understand I have to put in work but shouldnt they? I could write a book on how bad some of the teachers are and give you story after story but unfortunately I don't have the time right now."

"Going through the expericiences I have with different teachers and administration made my life hell. Everything was more complicated than it had to be. There was countless drama. Now Im just trying to get through my senior year without any trouble but I can feel the teachers provoking me to get a reaction. Hopefully when im in college I can look back at this as a learning expierence."

"I feel the teachers here prepared us very well for college. Our senior to Europe prepared us to be away from home and to be more independent."
