"I absolutely love most of the teachers here. The students? Not so much. While they're never openly horrible, it's very difficult to make friends here, because many of the people prefer to stick to their own groups. To make it worse, the clubs hardly ever meet, so you can't make friends through them, and there aren't very many sports teams, either. Still, after coming from a school where there was no trust and the academics were horrible, I can't help but appreciate this school for its teachers and courses.I also really appreciate the lack of busywork. We cover a lot more than other schools, but we don't have 4 hours a night of pointless homework. If the teachers give us homework, it's long enough to cement it in our mind without being so long that it takes more than a half hour. We do tend to write a lot of papers and read a lot (each student has to read 400 pages a month for English class), but I think that really prepares us all for college. Overall, I really like Altamont for its academics, even though the social life is terrible."

"As with every school, there are some good teachers and some bad teachers, but the overwhelming majority are amazing. The history, science, and math departments almost entirely have phenomenal teachers, but the teachers in the English department are either good or bad, depending on your opinion. As a Spanish student, I'm basing my reviews of the foreign language department off what I hear, but the general consensus is that the Latin teachers have hard tests but are fun in class and French is very difficult and involves a lot of information and memorization. The Spanish classes, in my experience, tend to be pretty engaging most of the time. The most important thing about Altamont's teachers is that they all trust you. I've been left alone in a room to take a FINAL EXAM. If that's not trust, I don't know what is. I think the respect that the teachers have for the students transforms them from good teachers to amazing teachers."

"There are many great teachers at this school who consistently go above and beyond what is expected of them and make a conscious effort to aid students in any way possible. However, as with any situation, there are some who do not appear to care about the well-being of their students overall."
