"This school has a great PTO & parent volunteer base. The teachers care about the students & its obvious just by speaking with them. If you are looking for an elementary school in Troy for your children to attend that builds good character & values, this is a great choice."

"I cannot wait for my children to get out of this school! Out of the five years my child attended Hook they only had 2 'acceptable' teachers. The principal, teacher and staff are all unacceptable."

"This school is wonderful! There is an old say, 'It is easier to build a child than repair an adult.' The staff at Hook builds your child. My children have been to several schools (military) and this is the first school where I felt that I was leaving my child in the hands of someone who cared about my child and her accomplishments and her safety as much as I do. I love this school!"

"I feel this school has a poor 'family friendly' atmosphere. They have a policy on 'no siblings' and I do not believe this promotes a caring atmosphere for my child and it is not the vision I had for schooling my child. I assume it's due to a sibling being injured while on school grounds, but why throw out the baby with the bathwater! I cannot even walk down the hall to look at my child's artwork being displayed without asking permission - and only being permitted after they dismiss school. I understand protective measures for parent volunteers, like fingerprinting, but this school takes 'safety' a bit too far. I would love to go to another school in the district - as they do not have the same policies at other schools in Troy."

"Excellent school with caring staff. We chose to live and stay in this neighborhood because of the quality of education at Hook Elementary."
