"This is an awesome school! The teachers, principal and staff are engaged, and there are ample opportunities for parents to get involved to what-ever degree they can or wish. The curriculum is varied, and area resources are used to introduce and demonstrate the importance of the current subject. As a school full of 'tweens' the students' transition from child to independent, community/world-aware individual is phenomenal to witness."

"West Lafayette Schools are among the highest rated in the state for academic performance and state testing. It offers the only orchestra program in the area beginning in the forth grade. New advanced placement courses are to be added over the next couple years in the high school. The school has a very active parent participation and involvement in many areas of the school curriculum, new administration hiring to building assessments. Parents are often invited to join task forces and committees to contribute to the continued improvement of the school. Yes, parents do contribute a great deal to the success of the students, along with excellent teachers, staff and community."

"Students at this school are very good performers. However between the textbooks (very poor quality) and the materials at hand to teach ( very poor quality and limited in amount) I cannot give the school as a whole a good mark. Additionally any suggestions for change are always met with substantial backpeddling. It seems that no one wants to rock this boat, but performance levels on state tests are only part of the reason we send our children to school. I would hazard a guess that the children here have parents that do the work for the teachers as well as for their children."
