"My mom used to teach at Community so I grew up knowing I was going to go there. The teachers are very nice and accommodating. They will take time out of their day to make sure that you are doing well and can receive the help you need. It is also a great school for learning how to manage your time. The only thing that worries me is that the science program is not the best. It is split up over the years and I was not prepared for chemistry in college. I have to retake basic chemistry in order to be where I should be. I know a lot of other students who are going through the same thing as well. We received all A's, but need to retake some science classes. Also after four years of going there, I was ready to leave. It just seemed so small after a little while. All in all, Community is a great school and I highly recommend it especially if you are interested in arts or having teachers support you through anything."

"Community High School is a place where students can experience a level of autonomy not made available at any of the other high schools in the district. Additionally, the school itself is very informal and few rules are imposed upon the students (no suspension for missing class, etc.). There are some truly amazing teachers that will make for an amazing academic experience (Judith, Matt, Robbie, Chloe, Jon, Jason, Ed, and Moe are really the all-stars), and the open-campus policy does allow for much better meals than those found in AAPS cafeterias (though the surrounding restaurants are NOT cheap). What really hurts Community, however, is the fact that there is a very specific mindset expected of all students who attend the school. That mindset reflects that of most residents of Ann Arbor in general and preaches very quasi-liberal ideals. It seems that to openly drift from said mindset is to remove yourself almost entirely from the rest of the community at Community, staff included."

"Community is a great place. I've been able to learn my own way and excelled in the student focused curriculum. The teachers love what they are teaching and do a great job."

"Community High School prides itself in providing its students with its name, a community. The teachers are all spoken to on a first name basis, and a general feeling of equality between persons is present in every classroom. There is not a feeling of hierarchy attached to our dean or any of the other faculty member in the building. Community maintains a small student population, and due to this fact, not all students who want to attend can. Enrollment is decided via lottery. Transportation is more challenging than that of the other schools, due to a lack of a direct bus route. This leads to many parents driving their children to school, which can be incredibly invasive for their schedules. A bus route, at the very least, would be appreciated."

"Community high school is a very inclusive school with so much student support. We have had many tradgedies throughout our school and school district, and our students support each other even if we are not close. Going to community gives me a sense of belonging feeling like I am a part of a closely-knit community. Our teachers are great resources outside of the classroom for extra help and are always willing to give it if it means making your educational experience easier."
