"Although South Lyon is a smaller community, we have a massive amount of students throughout all of our schools. I went to the high school with more students than the newer one and I feel like it's probably the same experience as someone who goes to a high school in a larger community. The student sections at football games was always a good experience; it was always packed and always rooting on our team. The teams I played for during high school gave me experience with teamwork and leadership, along with winning records and my name being known to other schools. Although I wasn't a huge fan of this school while I was attending, now that I'm out I realized that although I may not have liked the people in my graduating class, the teachers were pretty great and so were the sports and some of the friends I met."

"The school is very socially divided, and the school doesn't do much to help every student feel included. I am on the cheer team and i love my team mates! We get along great and we have great mats and resources. I would do it again at south lyon high school."

"Through my 4 years at South Lyon High School, I noticed that most of the teachers really knew what they were teaching and made sure that they did what they could to help students understand the material. Sadly, I did have a teacher who would purposely pick on kids that she knew didn't understand the material and instead of helping them, she'd embarrass them in front of the whole class by constantly telling them to figure it out and that they should know it already. Many teachers quizzes and tests were very fair and as long as you paid attention and studied for them and most review guides contained the material that was going to be on the tests. The newer teachers had newer teaching styles and they were more flexible with changing things around to see if it would help the classroom out more. Many incorporated technology into lesson plans as well. I came across a few teachers over the course of my time at SLHS that went above and beyond to help with not only academics but also made sure everything else was okay with your personal life too. I can honestly say that if I wouldn't have met one of my teachers, I wouldn't be here today."
