"The best thing about SL were the teachers--really smart people and you can tell that most of them really care about their students and love what they do. Didn't have a horrible experience here, but looking back on it I don't miss high school. They care a lot about the sports teams, not enough about the arts."

"This is a place for self discovery, acceptance or inferiority, a place where students will figure out the most important people. The criteria here is mediocre compared to private schools. South Lyon high school is laid back and lacks serious sport competition."

"I had an enjoyable time at South Lyon High School; however, there were some things I'd like to see changed. I've always felt safe, but there was a time when safety was taken too far. At one point in the school year we were no longer able to sit outside to eat lunch. The school is a predominately white school, so diversity is slim. Art programs were being cut. Extracurricular activities were slim. There wasn't a LGBT resource center or group. I believe this was because our school was on the conservative side. I once heard that a student who graduated a few years before I entered high school was told he couldn't wear a skirt because it was distracting. The counselors were all women. School sports were way too expensive. For the marijuana problem the school had, it didn't seem like there were any outreach programs. Don't get me wrong, South Lyon is a high rated high school compared to others. I just think there are some things that could change, with all high schools not just South Lyon."

"South Lyon High School was a great school. Teacher were well educated, friendly, and made class very enjoyable. They recently did some renovations including a new football field, new parking lot, new desks, etc."

"I really liked the academics at South Lyon High School. They were challenging without being too hard. I wish that there was more diversity at my school however. Most people at my school are Caucasian which doesn't create much diversity. I hope that one day more people of different backgrounds will move to South Lyon so it won't be so homogeneous."
