"The only thing i like about South is the diversity. South is not a very safe school, and it's not very college readiness."

"South Senior High School is like any ordinary high school. I was one of those students who kept to herself and minded her own business. I liked most of the students' school spirit, and I enjoyed the events held by student groups. However, I would like to see more student groups to form, and already existing student groups to improve their involvement with the students and create bigger events. Although I kept to myself, it's easy to get involved into drama and a lot of fights break out."

"South was different from my other school. I felt welcome and wanted. I thought "So this is how it feels to belong". Being a Muslim, black girl who wears a long hijab, I really stand out. Not in the way either. At my old school people called my hijab a "tent". I ignored them but it still hurt. South has so many people like me. I am thankful and proud to say I graduated from South. It is a lively, warm, and wonderful environment. I am really fortunate. I made so many amazing " For Life" friends. I will miss them so much when I graduate. South will always be a part of me. TIGER PRIDE!!!!!"

"I made a club. When I was a freshman at South, I decided to make a free hug sign and walk around in my lunchroom to give out free hugs. I thought about doing this in the lunchroom because it s where students feel overlooked. It also has less teacher supervision which can make it prone for students to bully others. This was important to me because I thought that even though I was happy that day, there could be someone that wasn't. I was nervous at first but I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and eventually, a couple of my friends joined me which made me feel confident. This activity made my community more positive, inclusive, and supportive. This was how Peace Tigers became an official club that is known for doing random acts of kindness."
