"Carlinville High School really prepares its students for college. I think that is their goal, to get their students ready for the next step in their lives, and they have accomplished this goal."

"Carlinville High School is an overall nice place to be. Because CHS is a small school, there isn't a large variety of advanced classes to choose from. However, most of the teachers I have had are all extremely helpful and cater to the academic needs of their students. Sports are the center of student involvement at CHS. Because Carlinville is a small town, there is a large amount of favoritism towards certain athletes because of their last name (Most of the coaches are related to the students). Band is really the only activity where this isn't a problem. Some policies need updating. The dress code is extremely outdated(my mother had the same one in 1986). The dress code leaves both girls and boys at CHS without the option to wear shorts during the hot months of the school year, which is very inconvenient. Seniors are also not allowed to opt out of finals :( It would be nice if some of these problems were non existent, but you get what you get in a small town!"

"Administration and staff at the school are excellent, as is the curriculum and learning experiences. However, some policies could be changed for the benefit of the students, such as extending the lunch 'hour' to an actual hour, utilizing late starts on days that weather is bad, changing the dress code, and allowing more rewards to students with high grades."

"As a current senior, I can honestly say that my last four years have been fantastic! The courses I took we're rigorous however I never felt overly challenged. The teaching staff at CHS are happy to be teaching us and really enjoy their jobs. We have off campus lunch privelidges but the cafeteria food is alright as well. Students that attend are, for the most part, nice and welcoming. Like every school there are some students who cause problems, but administrators are always on top of taking care of problems within the student body. We had a wide variety of courses to choose from, like AP courses, dual credit with Lewis and Clark Community College, and Agricultural or Vocational options as well! At CHS, there's something for everyone! The band program is EXCELLENT and the art teacher is very good at what she does. There are two foreign language options, French and Spanish. Students can get involved with Student Council, FFA, FCCLA, or even FCA!"

"There is a plethora of people at Carlinville High School. We have a few African Americans, and quite a few LGBTQ members. The students are definitely not very accepting though. Being a minority, I know there is not very much acceptance. Many students do drugs and pressure others to into doing them too..."
