"The teachers are excellent mentors and they teach from primary sources- not just textbooks. My child is receiving an education where she is learning how to learn- questioning, discussing, researching- and I know that she could not receive this quality of education from any other school."

"Outstanding. Well-educated and very caring about their students. All of the teachers seem to go out of their way to make sure students are learning."

"My experience at this school was not so horrible until I enter sophomore year. 10th through 12th grade is what really made me strongly dislike my school. There are just so many rules and restrictions that are unnecessary, plus the faculty and staff are very inconsistent. The homework load is ridiculous. We learn about things that are irrelevant. We are probably the only school in America that doesn't have a PROM."

"The teachers are all well educated with each subject that is being taught. They are absolutely great teachers and love to teach students."

"The main feature of Whitefield is its 'classical method', especially in their humanities program. They tout it as a program that will make students critical thinkers, but in my opinion, the opposite is true. The only texts read are very old, and written from a strictly Western point of view. This wouldn't be a bad thing, except that it is the only thing read. All of it is approached from a very neoliberal & religious standpoint, to the exception of any other. The workload is insane. I knew very intelligent, hardworking students who would think themselves stupid or lazy because they didn't manage to complete their 4-5 hours of homework and then received B's or C's on the assignments they did finish. The math and science programs are abysmal; this is a well-known and much-discussed fact among students and teachers. Over half of the students in most of the math classes I took in 'upper school' (7-12th grade) had to seek outside, remedial help from tutors. One thing that Whitefield does have going for it is its discussions. Although the structure is limited, and the points of view are noticeably lacking in diversity, they will prepare a student for civil discussion with other people."
