"Hi, my name is Peka Jackson and I am an alumni of Nathan Hale Magnet High School as of May 2017 and I would love to share my experience within the high school. I am going to start by talking about my freshman year at Nathan Hale. Freshman year for me at Nathan Hale was pure chaos. Every single day I was bullied for the most smallest reasons. Sophomore year was worse because people found more reasons to bully me. A lot of things I would be bullied for would be the things I could not control. Like the people I hanged out with, talked to, how I would dress, how I would wear my hair, how I talked, etc. My junior year, I can honestly say that was my most peaceful year. I was not bullied for the first time since entering the high school. My senior year was my worst year compared to all the rest because I was balancing two schools five days a week and two sports on top of that."

"High school was high school. Some classes were great, some felt dull, or empty. Some student were honors, and some were criminals. As a magnet school the facilities were exceptional, as we had a first class fitness center, a million dollar kitchen and bistro for the culinary program offered. Overall I enjoyed my time there. Unfortunately though, a school primary goal should not be "enjoyable" I feel. With the low income families, the location, and the general attitude towards today's youth, the district can't be to blame for everything. That said, the biggest issue I have with my High School experience is not my general sense of safety, or the extra curricular's offered, but rather the level of education I feel should have received. To this day I am very good friends with my old english teacher who has moved because he agrees with my belief that the TPS District cares more about graduating, rather than educating."

"I liked most of the teachers and I liked the classes that I took. I feel like the seniors of 2017 were not treated as well as they should have been. There were things that had been said to the seniors that did not go through at all."

"I Liked most of the staff. A lot of teachers helped me get a better understanding of my work . I never really had problems there, I was doing good in school. Though, If i had to change something it would be some teachers. Not all teachers help their students enough and that takes a toll on the students because that teacher doesn't really care. And it's so hard to see students failing because their teacher isnt dedicated to them enough"

"I liked that Nathan Hale felt like home. It was a good transition for me, as I suffer from anxiety being in this school was very helpful for me because I made strong bonds with students there as well as administration. I feel like the school needs more improve on education, students need more encouragement from teachers and their homes to stay motivated."
