"There are a group of phenomenal teachers and the rest are decent or worse."

"The people you meet that are generally your friends, both classmates and teachers. The DP teachers are the heroes of the school. The clubs you participate in are amazing if you make them. Otherwise, most of the school is in need of help."

"I loved this the first couple years and thought it was great, but after many years I realized just how awful this school really was. The worst thing about Westlake Academy is that although they push students to higher level thinking they completely miss the basics! My kid transferred out of Westlake to a public school and is struggling in pre AP classes because Westlake did not stress the basics. Also the students are completely disrespectful to all superiors and my student would tell me stories how in English that they did absolutely nothing in class and just played. You can also see it just walking around campus there will be kids lying on the floor in classrooms and roaming around the campus."

"The school has many problems especially from 6th to 10th grade which is considered the MYP program. I have attended this school since I was very young, and over time the school and it's administration has gone downhill in the MYP. Since the arrival of the new principals some unnecessary firing has occurred as well as some poor hiring decisions have occurred. The MYP is not as rigorous as it used to be. Also, the older kids in 9th and 10th grade are treated like 6th graders by forcing us to play silly games and paint rather than actually focusing on the information that is supposed to be taught. Although the MYP is not very good, I have much praise for the DP which is 11th and 12th grade. Basically it's the only reason I stay at WA. From everything I hear of the teachers that work in this area, they are amazing and are wonderful at preparing their students for the IB diploma. I have been blessed to have some of the DP teachers and they are phenomenal. Overall, the MYP is lacking academic excellence and the DP is excelling."

"I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I have no regrets, but I don't know if it would do it again."
