"Our kids love school. This is the most important criteria. They are challenged, finally! They have a large group of diverse friends. We wanted the best education in an international atmosphere and I think Village has met and surpassed our expectations. The teachers are so committed. We were made to feel right at home from the start. Our children have different academic strengths and both are challenged and so far successful. Couldn't be happier."

"I am a current Village High School student. The high school itself is expanding at such a rapid pace, we have a new amazing building and are about to build a new theatre and sports fields. The IB curriculum that is offered is very challenging, yet it's a very good program! I love the diversity of cultures throughout the students. My only problem is that when a teacher is complained about, the administration doesn't really listen, other than that it's a great learning environment! The teachers are very supportive and want you to do well, therefore they're always available before or after school. The grading system is different in the high school than the rest of the school. The new grading system for the 1st-8th grade is great! Instead of just putting a grade on your report card, it lets teachers tell the parents of their students if (no matter what the grade) their student is improving and meeting the expectations that the teachers has with the students, specifically. The fact that the high school is just starting up is actually a great experience. You, as a student, get to start all the traditions and clubs, which is something not every high school student gets to experience."

"I am an eighth grader at The Village School, and I have been in it since Kindergarten. When I was in third grade, the school was bought by Meritas, and it all went downhill from there. I have become more and more frustrated with the cancellations of old school traditions and some of the below average teachers they are hiring. This year, I am at a breaking point with the school because of the new grading system. Instead of simple, number grades, we are now graded on our report cards by these letters: EE (Exceeding Expectations). ME (Meeting Expectations), AE (Approaching Expectations), and BE (Beginning Expectations). Anything below a BE means that the work or test is counted as if it wasn't turned in, or honestly tried at, really effecting the final grade. I also fear that the high school is not experienced enough to actually start genuinely teaching to The Village School standards, which is why I will not be attending this school next year. If you are considering The Village School, especially for middle and high school, please reconsider. -Middle School student at The Village School."

"Our school's residential program is getting worse and worse this year, all the students in the dorm live unhappy and uncomfortable. The residential program used to have a great director who consider students' interest as the most important things in his job. But the new dorm director consider nothing for students's study and life. The students even be forced to have early lights out or loose the rights to go out with the daily trip for punishments. What's more, most dorm students don't have relatives in Houston, the one could help them is school, and it writes in the handbook as well, but when they are sick and need to go to the doctor, the dorm director and dorm parents even don't take them to doctor on time, which made students fell even worse. The residential life even don't allow students to take the SAT or TOFFEL test which are essential for their college application, this is totally unreasonable and selfish because they afraid they need more dorm parents wake up early and complain. As a parent I feel so upset about this school's policy and the dorm directors, we pay fifty thousand a year for our children but they even can't be took care the basic daily life."
