"Victoria West High School is not the best high school to attend but it's also not the worst. I was a cheerleader in high school and was able to rise to the title of captain. In addition, I was in NHS and the combination of these two organizations gave me access to leadership skills and opportunities that have been invaluable to me. The school was generally split into two large sub groups: the middle class group who most of which were in Pre-AP/AP classes and we're going to college, and the lower middle/poorer classes who were either going to drop out of high school or graduate but not go off to college. High school could be perceived very differently from each group, and I only have the point of view from the first group."

"The social scene I was involved with and can speak for at Victoria West was comprised of students who took Pre-AP/AP classes and intended to go to college. Among these students, there was high competition for grades. The top 10 students in my class experience fluctuation throughout the four years. We all also accepted each other because as far as goals and aspirations, we were very similar. In this group of students, there wasn't a large among of ethnic, racial, or cultural diversity so we weren't challenged unless we were briefly a part of the other half of the school."

"The teachers at Victoria West High School are individually great people who do care about their students. However, the administration is so focused on micro-managing the teachers that they aren't really allowed to customize their class to their own teaching style and really teach the way they want to. Despite that, they do put effort into teaching students and making sure they learn what you need to."

"The academics did not prepare me for college. However, for those that did not intend to go to college, the academics were probably more than adequate. The school was more focused on controlling what and how the teachers taught rather than preparing us for college, or the work force. I am currently a science major, but before beginning my freshman year of college I was terrified that I would hate my major because I did not have a solid science background. The school did not provide class rooms with adequate science equipment in order to have hands on experience in the sciences. As for the other subjects, such as math and English, they were probably average, but did not provide a strong support for my college classes."

"This school is insanely easy, especially with the correction policy. However, that does not mean students learned the material."
