"I loved that the teachers prepared me for my college experience. Overall, I made great friends and was very involved. I loved La Cueva."

"My experience at La Cueva High School was ok. I didn't really get involved in many various clubs and sports, but I was in JROTC program and that was an incredible experience. Personally I did not like the administration it felt like they did not know what they were doing when it comes to the usual things like checking someone out from school, or finding out what class a student is in. The teachers were very good though. All of the teachers I had from freshman year to my last year of high school, they have made sure that I was on top of everything, and passing the class with a decent grade. La Cueva seems to be very big on sports and academics, but really La Cueva isn't any different from any other school in Albuquerque. Its just in the good part of the city. The restroom facilities I have to say are disgusting. No one ever cleans the bathrooms at that school. There are always writings on the walls, and stuff smeared on the stalls, it was just utterly disturbing."

"I enjoyed my ability to choose the classes I wanted and then work with my counselor to find the best fitting teacher and environment. However, La Cueva has a very polarized environment when it comes to wealth, race, as well as political views. Unfortunately, La Cueva, like many other New Mexico schools has a severe marijuana problem, with many students using and dealing."

"Many good teachers but some are rather lazy. Biggest problem is lack of discipline among students, who are often rude and inconsiderate."

"La Cueva High School is known as one of the best schools within the APS district in terms of staff, education, and sports / other extra-curricular activities. In my experience with the teachers, they have taught very well seeing as though I have gotten above 3's on all my AP exams. They stress the importance of absorbing the content in a way that also calls for a proper work ethic and efficient study habits. The counselors are also very easy to work with as they have encountered many unique situations with each student. There are also a large variety of classes ranging from Yoga to Ceramics to AP Calc BC to Computer-Aided Drafting. Extra-curriculars are highly competitive and prestigious and contain many state recognized competitors. Same thing also applies for the wide variety of sports offered. If there isn't something that suits a students desires, the student is capable of starting up his/her own official club. The overall atmosphere is safe and exciting."
