"Everyone is an artist, visual, music, dance, and theater. A diverse environment, full of energy and expression. Welcoming and accepting of differences."

"LACHSA shaped who I am today in that I developed what type of music career I'd want and I also started to develop leadership skills at LACHSA. I am still friends with my closest friends I made at LACHSA and the opportunities I got in performing at LACHSA are invaluable."

"We have one EXCELLENT English teacher who has been there a long time. Most academic teachers are sub-par, have not mastered the artistry of teaching, nor are they fair or reasonable in the amount of work given or time allowed to complete projects. As an arts school, it's an extremely rigorous schedule from a time standpoint - but my having attended very rigorous academic schools in the past, I can say with surety that my school is very sub-par academically in every way. The teachers are mostly terrible. Our curriculum does not prepare us for the rigors of the next year's classes. Most teachers are either apathetic or cruel and unyielding. Worst of all, are SOME AP teachers who do not have the skill or experience to pace out the scope and scale of the curriculum and provide enough AP test prep. Except for Dr. Barry Pohlmann, the greatest English teacher I have ever had and that includes when I went to Flintridge Prep which is the 3rd highest rated high school in the country."

"School is very cliquey. Arts depts tend to hang around within themselves. If you make any academic friends it's a miracle. And then if you don't have them in classes again the following year, they go off into their own groups and you lose your friends. I have not had a great experience socially. Because I am sober. And nobody else is. So I never get invited anywhere, to anything. I have a 4.3 GPA and I'm in the top decile. I was one out of 5 students chosen to apply for a leadership/citizenship conference held by the Chancellor Emeritus at Pepperdine University. But I have only 1-2 friends ea year (usually seniors who are more mature and actually care about their grades), but then they graduate and I'm back to being alone. But everyone wants to sit next to me in Physics class. It has been very fulfilling artistically, but then kids are even more distant because they're jealous. But still want to sit next to me in Physics. I know several other kids who feel as I do. It's really sad. I know it will be over soon and I just want to get into college and put it behind me."

"The arts portion of the school is always high quality and interesting, but this is a hard environment to last in because the school day is so long and we have so many subjects to study."
