"Most of the teachers are extremely passionate about their subjects and keep the students engaged with lots of different class projects and other methods. Overall grading is consistent except for one or two teachers but they have since retired."

"Most teachers are very approachable and friendly. They are willing to help, and kind-hearted. They care about us as individuals and as students."

"The overall atmosphere is that of a community and a family. We pray together, and we get to know each other better with each passing retreat and semester."

"Before coming to Serra High, I learned that it held the notorious reputation of being a "sports school". This was somewhat true. Athletes receive full scholarships to top universities such as UCLA, USC, Arizona State, and so on. At first I felt like faculty only cared about the athletes. What people failed to mention when asked about my school was the fact that the academics are challenging and diverse. AP and honors classes are offered and I have taken them over the years. I also take a religion course that has opened my mind. The teachers encourage us to critically think and that is what makes academics here challenging, but capable to conquer. I love that the student body is like a family. We may have our differences, but at the end of the day we come together. No one is left behind. My favorite experience was the senior retreat. I had a positive mindset and allowed myself to open to people. As a result, I gained new friends. The "Serra Experience" has been great overall."

"All of my teachers look out for me in and out of school. They make sure I am on top of my school work and understand the lessons. If I don't understand, they don't mind taking the extra time to help me. Outside of school, they support me in my extra-curricular activities. Because my school is a private Catholic school, the teachers are interested in my faith journey. All of my teachers find a way to incorporate God into the educational aspects of my life. I find if helpful because it keeps me motivated and strengthens my belief that there is a higher power helping me build a successful future. My teachers are respectable adults who I can go to about anything. Not only do I learn from the textbooks, but I also learn through their personal experiences about life as they share wisdom about the real world and how brutal or amazing it can be."
