"There isn't a wide array of class options because of our small school size, but of the classes we do offer, the teachers are outstanding and are well-educated in the subject matter. However, the workload is very high. Obviously, it depends on what kind of classes you take, but on a general basis, many of our classes - not only the AP ones - are difficult. It's legitimately hard to get an A in most classes at Whitney."

"Educationally, Whitney is a diamond. It's no mistake we were named #1 high school in California. The quality of education coupled with the outstanding teachers makes the experience highly valuable. I truly enjoyed learning here. I also learned by trial and error how to behave under high stress, how to handle failure, how it feels to succeed after putting in a great amount of work. The students that attend are very highly motivated, academically and otherwise. It's motivating (very occasionally dispiriting) to see your peers putting on TEDx conferences or organizing political rallies or advocating for international womens rights. However, school-wise, it is not a normal high school - understandably, because it is an academically challenging school. With our high academic title comes a sacrifice. I didn't get to experience a proper high school. We didn't have a football team, no one really cared about our sports, and there wasn't much school spirit. I spent most of my 9th-11th grade doing work and not spending time with friends because my grades couldn't afford it. So no, I wouldn't do it again, because I missed out on a high school experience. But that doesn't mean it isn't a great school."

"All teachers genuinely care about the students at Whitney and let students know they are there to help with academics or otherwise. Some teachers spend their own pocket money on educational things. It means a lot that many alumni come back to visit Whitney to specifically meet teachers to let them know how they're doing."

"Teachers at Whitney are very responsible, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in helping each student succeed using a path that will help them make the most out of their education and opportunities available to them. They are always ready to help, encourage, and learn about new, innovative ideas and projects that students might introduce to them. They are also a great source of support and very good mentoring, and are always open to dicussing all topics, including college counseling and personal problems students might encounter throughout their high school years."

"It can be boring during some classes and the test cover material that we did not learn."
