"The pace is up to you which is great but some kids just cant do things on their own and it would make jewel city the wrong choice."

"It took many falls before I got to stand up but when I stood up I didn't walk, I ran. The strength between the two women who lead this school is unbelievable. They didn't only prepare us to be educated beings but they prepared us for the truths of the world. If I could give an example of walking into jewel city I would have to compare it to Nanny Mcphee because that is just what it was. We walk in not wanting to be there and when you leave you wish you had them again later in life. At jewel city they didn't just teach me about math and science but they taught me about the world and when we walked with disabled children we learned how some people can be cruel and abandon them. We learned that to get what you want you need work for it and we also learned that riches can never buy you happiness but the love a kind heart can."

"At Jewel City there were only about ten of us at a time and most were of different ethnicity and backgrounds. Some of us where from the high mountain area in town and others were from the alleys and back streets but no matter where any of us came from we were all the same. We all had to overcome some sort of barrier in our life and at Jewel City we were able to do it together. Since the school was smaller than a traditional class size we had a lot of time to get to know everyone personally. We learned the good, bad, and everything that was left in between. We fought with each other and we exchanged words a lot but there were never clicks or anything like the average clique middle school high school thing. If one person had issues with someone else they had to deal with it because no matter where you are in life somebody is not always going to like you. We were forced to be a team and when the day was over we were proud of our team mates."
