"Since I am a senior at San Gabriel High, I have probably seen it all. There a tons of clubs that a student could possibly join to get involved and give back to the community. If you're athletic or just like physical activity, you can join a sport or dance team. I came into the school my freshmen year, feeling completely lost the first week; but, I found my calling in the gym -- with the girls' basketball team. This will be my 4th year of basketball, and I couldn't have wanted it any other way. My commitment to a sport has unfortunately set me back in terms of volunteering and other services. I am involved in a few clubs, but not many to rank myself higher than others in terms of leadership on college applications. If there is one thing I would have hoped for freshmen year is to have someone explain the importance of being involved in school in MULTIPLE ways, not just one. Better guidance for a freshman would definitely improve the collective impact of students contributing to society. San Gabriel has been a fun place to be at for the past few years, and if I could I would definitely go back and redo the 4 years with my fermented knowledge now."

"I think that San Gabriel is basically 50% Asian and 50% Hispanic. Usually, most students are involved with many academic and service clubs. Honestly, unless you really care about getting into the #1 university in your state, you may feel the competition between the other top 10% of the class. Nevertheless, the pressure is not noticeable. The school's tolerance for different sexual orientations and ethnicities is great. I have never heard of actual bullying at my school either. There might have been a fight somewhere on the big campus, but no one is aware since there is nothing really serious."

"If you have good time management skills and are willing to work hard then school here will be doable. My curriculum has been on track, but I hear that Common Core is very confusing to students of a variety of skill levels. My workload last year was quite challenging with 3 Honors/AP level courses. Despite feeling the multiple breakdowns, some of my friends experienced having 5 AP classes, but were perfectly fine. It just depends on the person."

"Most of the teachers tend to know their stuff and can teach well. However, it's unfortunate to say that most of the teachers who don't teach an honors/AP version of their course tend to be less engaged and less able to teach the material, but that's not to say that good teachers in regular level courses don't exist!"

"Many of my past and current teachers love what they do. They sincerely come everyday to graciously bestow their knowledge upon us. Although there are some teachers that are not the best at teaching, learning to self-study early on is important for higher education, such as, college. For example, my current AP Government teacher makes learning history extremely fun by using funny stories and understandable connections. However, I did have a teacher who did not really teach me anything new. Overall, the quality of learning at San Gabriel is great !"
