"The teachers here are a mixed bag. Half of them are the most passionate people you'll meet and the other half are just trying to get through the day. Some teachers will be best friends with kids and be super engaged. The teachers are all really well educated however sometimes their political/social/ect. opinions seep into lessons (not necessarily bad). A lot of the teachers are straight out of grad school and just looking for resume filler. If you email them its very easy to schedule office hours with them and they'll come in in the morning/lunch/after school to help you; importantly though, you have to reach out to them to get help. All teachers know you by first name even if you've never had them (do they talk about us?). When grading, because all the teachers know you so well, they begin to grade your work with bias. What would be an A for most students might become a B if they think you personally could do better. On the flip side, if you are struggling they'll turn an F paper into a C. Teachers refuse to fail students so they'll give you extra credit/grade your work on a curve."

"Going to PRS has been a doozy. On one end I think "thank god I went to Pacific Ridge and not [insert other school]" but on other days everyone has a collective sigh and thinks "oh god Pacific Ridge". One of our most unifying characteristics as a student body is we can all revel in certain bizarre choices the school makes. It was a really great school when I first started, but over time it has gone downhill a little. The older classes all started when the applicants were selected by qualification, but after tuition was raised it appears the only thing that matters is socioeconomic status. The politics of the school have gotten out of hand. It was overall good and I value the classroom experience, but other than that the small group of kids and routine becomes painful."

"What's unique about this school is the Harkness discussions and the incorporation of ethical responsibility & global engagement to the classroom."

"Pacific Ridge teachers are great. They are consistently available outside the classroom, and are incredibly friendly and approachable. Oftentimes extra help isn't even needed, however, because most teachers are so passionate about their field that they convey the topic so well that it simply clicks. Overall, despite the occasional bad apple, PRS teachers are really good at teaching."

"The teachers range from atrocious to great, like all other schools."
