"This school is worth it strictly for the teachers. They care about each and every student, and do all that they can to help them. The students here somewhat mind their own business, but it's a small school and gossip travels quickly. With new students coming in each week, you'll always see new faces. This can be a great environment for extroverts, and a nightmare for introverts. The school is small, and everyone seems to genuinely respect one another."

"Students are highly encouraged to learn and complete work on their own. Nobody, except the student, is to blame if work isn't completed. He/she is held accountable for their own actions."

"The students at sunset come from all over, and there is a large diversity. Like at any high school there is peer pressure and difficultly meeting people. However, at sunset people are transferred into the school sometimes daily from other schools. So the students learn that they really never know who might walk through the door and become a friend. Ironically, it actually made me and probably other students much more open to meeting new and different people. The school was so small that you needed to be open to meeting and talking to people you might have not in traditional high school."

"The teachers at sunset seriously changed my outlook on academics, school, college, life. They were all individually wonderful, and then as a whole also very supportive. Each teacher helped me in a different way. Because the work in a non traditional high school and many times the students weren't as willing to work hard like I was, they needed to establish rapport with them in order to understand how to get them to do the school work. They related the info to life and helped me learn how to get through the work I didn't care for as much. They taught me to intrinsically love learning, and for that I am forever grateful."

"Sunset high is a continuation high school. There are many classes to choose from, and you work at your own pace. First of all, the teachers were so wonderful. Each and every teacher I had while at sunset changed me in some way. They were so helpful, and so happy to be there. Unlike other teachers in high school I loved talking to them and had great relationships. They were always there to help and actually sit down and teach the information. We had "advisors" to keep us on track and check up on us. I loved it. It was someone who knew your personal side, and also wanted to see you succeed. Like I mentioned before, sunset was non traditional so their workload and curriculum was much different. Each student was enrolled in different classes at different times and working at our own pace. It was very individual and you finished work at your own pace. This truly helped me in my academics. I was given a set amount of work, and when finished, you received more, took exams when you were ready and then would finish a course with an exit exam. It was incredible. Once I got going I truly couldn't stop. I finished high school almost a year early. Although there was a heavy workload, I enjoyed finishing the work. It was so rewarding to be learning, but also enjoying the process of doing the work. I could truly go on and on about how wonderful sunset's curriculum was for me and other students."
