"Academics are decent here. If you're an AP or honors student, the class options are definitely wide and plenty, and for individuals interested in the sciences and math it's a great school to attend. Curriculum and workload are usually easy to adapt to, as few teachers are unreasonable in pace. Despite this, the school's policy of requiring certain courses, such as math, for all four years regardless of passed courses is unreasonable, especially for students who are more interested in the arts or history, and members of the performing arts often have to pick between their passion in performing and 'required' classes."

"Honestly, there's not a ton to improve on in terms of culture and diversity. In terms of ethnic and racial diversity, ironically the smallest domination is white people - that being noted though, there are definitely still some racist trends among the students, especially the small bands of white kids. Despite that though, it isn't a prevailing force, and the vast majority of people are accepting and relatively good. Sexuality is a topic that ends up being covered at least once a year thanks to the GSA's tradition of holding a Day of Silence, but there's still a lot to be fixed, especially seeing how often f****t and 'gay' are still popular insults, and insensitive or outright ignorant jokes are still passed around without sensitivity."

"Notably in AP classes such as AP European History and the two AP Biology teachers' classes, teachers are sure to be engaging with students and make lessons not only engaging but immediately useful. Though the quality of the Spanish teachers (from what a secondhand experience can discern) vary, the primary French professor is excellent at her job, along with the majority of the English and History teachers. The math teachers are the only employed which seem to lean more towards lower-quality than higher; where a few students might succeed under one teacher, the vast majority of the same class (or classes) are struggling, and a common complaint is that certain math teachers are incredibly dull, to the point where it is within ones best interest to pray for a morning class so that one does not fall asleep during the lecture."

"The teachers are great though I don't like the style of math and using common core."

"While I was initially skeptical at attending Mira Mesa, the choice to attend instead of deferring to elsewhere is one that I will never regret. The community is passionate and involved, and especially for members of the marching band and colorguard, the experience at school is very much one in which you can expect to enjoy your time and always have others to watch your back. Although there are certainly students who are lazy and drag down the class, usually students try to be decent and 'on top' of their studies."
